Palm Beach's Premier Luxury Boutique
THE ULTIMATE PALM BEACH SHOPPING EXPERIENCE.
A curated collection of the finest goods from the Mediterranean, Capri, and the Greek Islands. |
Via Coquina is one of the rare boutiques where I find it impossible to leave empty-handed. Each artisan piece has been carefully curated by Via Coquina’s owner, Cara Polites Ferro, during her extensive travels throughout Greece, Italy, and Turkey. Ferro has stocked the boutique with the most exquisite goods that are impossible to find outside of the Mediterranean. Nearly all of Via Coquina’s wares are masterfully handcrafted pieces devoted to nature and art. I love that almost every piece has an authentic artisan behind it–which only enhances the experience of browsing the lovely space. It truly is the quintessential luxury boutique.
I always recommend Via Coquina to those looking for unique gifts or home accents. The boutique’s vast selection of housewares also includes jewelry, clothing, and small-batch apothecary goods, so you’ll always be able to find the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one. The neutral and cool tones of the premium materials used for the Mediterranean wares perfectly match the coastal yet luxurious vibe of any high-end Palm Beach home, so I’m always confident my gifts will be used.

THE ULTIMATE PALM BEACH SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
Not only is it stocked full of treasures, but the shop is visually stunning. The window front on Worth Avenue initially drew me in–the blue and white color palettes and artfully displayed textiles reminded me of my extensive travels in Greece. I can’t help but feel nostalgic whenever I step into Via Coquina. The colors and scents of the soaps and olive oils instantly transport me back to Greece, back to the small, winding cobblestone roads lined with little shops, each with its handcrafted specialty.
Some of Via Coquina’s most popular pieces include the Greek copper pepper mills, the Oracle olive oil sourced from seaside olive farms in Peloponnese, and the gorgeous Themis terracotta vases detailed in 24-karat gold, all handmade with care in Greece. The shop also has a wide selection of Canfora Marina sandals, the same kind made famous by Jacqueline Kennedy when she ordered several pairs in Capri while serving as First Lady. The hand-sewn sandals are imported from Capri island and are of the finest Italian leather.
Via Coquina’s housewares will look perfectly at home in any luxury beach house. The Tensira quilted Kapok mattress–filled with Kapok, a fiber that grows in the pod of a Kapok tree–is hand-spun, hand-dyed, and hand-woven with the utmost level of craftsmanship. The printed mattress can be laid atop any daybed or sofa as a charming yet functional accent. The Stamperia Bertozzi Poseidonia indigo linen kitchen towels crafted in Northern Italy are a popular new addition. The blue and cream towels feature delicate printings of fish belonging to the Adriatic seas and are traditionally block-printed with hand-carved pearwood stamps. These endearing kitchen towels are a perfect example of how even the smallest items are a treat at Via Coquina.
Via Coquina’s long-anticipated jewelry selection is finally available and has been truly worth the wait. The collection includes new and vintage designer pieces, all hand-crafted (of course) in Greece, Turkey, and Italy. The Ileana Makri eye heart locket necklace is stunning. The traditional Greek Evil Eye on the front of the 18-carat locket is transformed into a delicate love symbol made up of brown diamonds, tsavorites, and blue sapphires. Ileana Makri, a Greek designer whose work is based on the country’s rich mystical and figurative symbols, is just one of the talented artists featured by Via Coquina. The boutique also carries pieces by renowned Elena Votsi, the Olympic medals designer, whose shop on the Greek island of Hydra is a destination for jewelry collectors worldwide. Her pieces, such as the Fish Pendant–featuring a realistic Aegean Sea fish biting into richly colored silk cords–are fun, bold, and visually appealing.

THE EXPERT BEHIND THE LUXURY BOUTIQUE
Via Coquina is more than a boutique–it’s a trip to the best parts of coastal Italy and Greece. Born to Greek parents, Ferro spent some of her childhood just outside of Athens and frequently traveled to the Greek islands. Her familiarity with the Mediterranean and her appreciation of high-quality craftsmanship motivated her to open Via Coquina. Ferro is passionate about discovering the finest artisans in Greece and Italy and showcasing their goods in Palm Beach. Her discerning taste is reflected in the boutique’s offerings.
Via Coquina is one of my absolute favorite high-end stores in Palm Beach. Knowing that the boutique is part of 1% for the Planet and donates a portion of its profits to conservation efforts is just another reason to visit. Ferro is constantly adding new goods to the boutique’s offerings, so there’s almost always something new to discover each time you visit. The boutique is an absolute must-see if one finds themselves on Worth Avenue.
