Coronavirus Impact on Luxury Restaurants and Fine Dining
Fine dining revolutionized to bring the best ingredients straight to your front door |
While previously, you could never quite beat the indulgent experience of exceptional Michelin-star service, or sampling dishes like chef Mauro Colagreco’s exquisite ‘anchovies with fried skeletons and lemons’ against the sparkling background of the Côte d’Azur, there’s no denying that the pandemic has now dampened the allure of eating out and – luckily for us – quite literally dished up a whole host of innovative at-home dining services. From top Michelin-star restaurants offering take out menus and at-home kits, to chefs – from some of the world’s best restaurants – taking up in-house positions or simply offering one-off at-home cooking experiences, we have never been so well-fed.

Add to this, the luxurious restaurant vendors that are now delivering ice-packed boxes of live king crabs, caviar and Wagyu beef straight to your front door, there’s no doubt that we can finally experience the best ingredients, prepared by the best chefs, in the privacy of our own home. Once the creators of ambiance and trendy scenes, restaurants no longer seem appealing, their enticing vibes dampened by restrictions and a lack of guests. While it is still to be seen how they might recreate themselves, for us, we are in no rush to return to the dining scene. Instead, we will be at home with our personal chef, who will prepare our meals exactly how we like it, every time.
